Looking for something unique to do this weekend? Check out these three unconventional, but extraordinary destinations to experience near your luxury apartment at Kendall Square!
The Zoological Wildlife Foundation is a five-acre animal rescue and conservation facility just east of the Kendall area. The facility offers guided tours that give visitors opportunities to see and interact with a variety of wildlife, and learn about endangered animals. Tours are by appointment only. For more information or to schedule a visit, contact the zoological foundation website.
The Gold Coast Railroad Museum offers train rides for children of all ages and provides visitors an interesting glimpse into a period in history in which trains were used as a popular mode of transportation. The museum is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on weekends from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is a small admission charge to the museum and train tickets may be purchased separately. Children under 2 are admitted free.
If you are seeking a more enchanting destination, a visit to the Coral Castle Museum may be just what you are looking for. Almost 100 years ago, a Latvian immigrant began to carve the castle out of coral rock as a testament of devotion to his lost love. What makes the castle so amazing is that he used nothing but hand tools to create his 1,100 ton creation. Visitors may explore the castle and surrounding grounds Sunday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m, and Friday and Saturday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Children under age 6 receive free admission.
